LUNCH & BREAKS

Break and lunch times can sometimes be a bit daunting as it is likely that you will share this time with older students in the school. Most schools have two breaks, one in the morning and another about midday which is longer to allow you to have your lunch. Here are some tips about how to make the most of this time:

TIP 1: DO YOU NEED THE LOO?

At the start of every break think... Do I need the loo? If you do or think you might a little later on it is important that you go to the toilet at the start of break. Some schools do not let you go to the toilet during lesson time (unless it is an emergency) so you will need to do this at break time.

TIP 2: WHAT DO YOU WANT TO EAT?

Think about what you want to eat and drink during the day the night before. If you decide what you want the night before you can make sure that you have either brought it with you in your packed lunch or you have enough money to buy it. Remember not o bring too much money to school. Just bring the amount you will need for that day. Also, don't forget to try something new! Most school canteens have such a variety of food that you could have something new every day if you wanted!

TIP 3: FILL YOUR WATER BOTTLE

It is important that you stay hydrated. A great way to do this is to bring a water bottle to school and fill it up at the start of the day and during each break time. This way you can make sure that you get enough water during the day (as well as it giving your brain some power!)

TIP 4: MEET YOUR FRIENDS... DON'T WAIT

Break times are a great time to catch up with your friends. Rather than wait for them, go get your food or go to the loo and meet in an agreed place. This way you don't waste time waiting for each other so you will have more time to eat, talk and laugh!

TOP TIP:

If you need the loo, go at the start of break time. By the time you are done, the lines in the canteen would have gone down as well!
