HOUSES AND TUTOR GROUPS

When you join us, you will be told what house and what tutor group you are in. At Archbishop Ilsley we have six different house groups (which all have their own colour tie) and in each house we have ten vertical tutor groups. Your tutor group will become you’re in school family that will support you throughout your whole education at school. You joining your tutor group on your first day of school and will stay with them until you reach your exams!

THE HOUSES:

At Archbishop Ilsley we have six houses that are named after important Saints. Each house is individual. Each has its own Head of House, its own set of tutors, its own tie and its own values. To find out more about each of the houses, click on the house logos below!

THE TUTOR GROUPS:

Your tutor group is made up of about 20 students of all ages from year 7 students to year 10 students and (in most cases) has two tutors. Your tutor group will have a base and you will go there each day at 10.45 when tutor time starts. Here you will do a wide range of activities including:

  • Receiving important notices or letters

  • Receiving any information about school events or trips

  • Going to your house assembly (once a week)

  • Going to your year assembly (a few times a term)

  • Checking your uniform and equipment

  • Talking about any achievements medals you have received with your tutor

  • Talking about any behaviour logs you have received with your tutor and discussing how you can ensure that they do not happen again

  • Planning and presenting your own tutor assembly (once a year)

  • Competing in tutor and house competitions

  • Work on key skills such as numeracy and literacy

  • Have tutor wide discussions about relevant topics

  • Spend time getting to know and socialising with other people in your tutor group

  • In some cases you may be given time to work on any class work or homework that you may have.

TOP TIP:

Take time to get to know your tutor group. It is a great way to meet people in other year groups.
