BEING ORGANISED

It is important that you arrive for your first day of school and that you are prepared! Here is everything you will need to bring and do before you start Archbishop Ilsley.

KNOW YOUR WAY TO AND FROM SCHOOL - make sure you know your route and that you have practiced both the route to and from school. Make sure you have a clear idea about how long it will take you so you can plan enough time to get to school. It does not make a good impression if you are late for the first day of school.

MAKE SURE YOU HAVE YOUR UNIFORM READY - make sure you have all you need for a full and corrects uniform. Make sure that you have your house tie and your year strip on your blazer. It is also a good idea to have a few spare shirts and trouser/ skirts/ tights as sometimes your uniform can get a bit messy.

HAVE YOUR P.E KIT OR HAVE IT ORDERED - you will not need your P.E kit on the first day but you will need it after that. Make sure that you have it ready or that it has been ordered. If you have ordered your P.E kit and it has not arrived by the first day don't worry! It will be delivered to the school and then sent to you in school.

MAKE SURE YOU HAVE ALL OF YOUR EQUIPMENT - make sure that you have a clear pencil case with the following items in it. Your pencil case will be an important piece of equipment that you will use every lesson and all students have to have this. Check you have the following ready:

  • Clear pencil case

  • Black Pens

  • Green Pens

  • Pencils

  • Rubber

  • Sharpener

  • Ruler

PACK YOUR BAG AND LAY OUT YOUR UNIFORM THE NIGHT BEFORE - take your time to pack everything you need and lay out your uniform so you can make sure everything you need in the morning is there and ready. This way you don't need to rsuh about and waste time looking for things in the morning. It also makes sure that you have a smooth and stress free start to your first day.

BUY AN ALARM CLOCK! - set it for nice and early so you have enough tome to get ready and travel to school. Remember you will be expected to be in the main hall and ready to start the day by 8.45 on your first day, not arriving at the gate at this time. If just you arrive at this time you will be late and will not make a very good first impression.

SOME TOP TIPS TO BE ORGANISED AFTER YOUR FIRST DAY AND BEYOND:

  • LOOK AT YOUR TIMETABLE EACH NIGHT AND PACK YOUR BAG ACCORDINGLY - Make sure you have everything for tomorrow by looking at your timetable and packing everything you need for each lesson. Don't forget to also include your pencil case, a copy of your timetable and school diary as you will also need these too!

  • WHEN YOU GET HOME, HANG UP YOUR UNIFORM AND GET YOUR SHOES READY - As soon as you get home hang up your uniform to keep it neat. It is a good idea to ensure your tie, shoes and clean socks/underwear is placed out too. This also makes sure it is all ready for you in the morning so no rushing about!

  • KEEP YOUR COAT WITH YOUR BAG AND UNIFORM - If your bag, unfirom and coat are all together it means you can just put them on in the morning and go, resulting in a stress free morning. Win!

  • IF YOU GET HOMEWORK THAT DAY, THEN DO IT THAT DAY - If get homework that day, then do it that night! This way it is still fresh in your mind and gives you the best possible chance to ensure you produce your best work. A little hint, producing good pieces of homework gives teachers a great impression of you!
